Bethel Christian School began in
1979 as a ministry of Bethel Baptist Church. The church
established the school with a passion to provide a quality Christian
education for the children in the community and share the good news of
Jesus Christ with students and their families.
In its first year, the school began with four
teachers and 67 students meeting in classrooms in building 100 where
today’s offices are located. The church and school
shared all the facilities on four acres at 3100 West Avenue K in
Lancaster. By September 1980, the school’s
enrollment grew to 150 students and construction of building 200
“Phase 2” was completed.
During the 1980’s the Lord blessed the
church and school ministries with the purchase of the five adjacent
acres and the construction of the worship center (building 300) as well
as additional modular buildings. The new property
improvements enabled the church and school to have a gymnasium, ball
field, two playgrounds and 40,000 sq ft of classrooms, offices and
multi-purpose facilities on nine acres of property. In June
1989, the school graduated it’s first senior class of six
students. Approximately 95 percent of graduating seniors have continued
their education at local and nationally-known colleges and
universities.
BCS enrollment is open to students who have
accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior as well as students who have
not. All students have daily Bible class and weekly chapel
services. Through the ministry of the school, students have
gained a knowledge and appreciation of Christian values and the Bible
in addition to an outstanding academic foundation.
Bethel Christian School continues to shape the
future by helping students to develop a love for learning and a
commitment to honoring God in their daily lives.
